Location and Description of the port
Petkim Petroleum and chemical complex is situated in Nemrut Bay laying at the north-eastern coast. Mostly chemicals and petroleum derivatives are handled. Only one berth is assigned for general cargo handling which is used solely for the installations' own needs.

Location and Description of the port
Haydarpasa Port is situated on the Anatolian side of the Bosphorus. The port has two breakwaters about 1 700 m. and 600 m. long. The sea area inside the breakwaters is 62 hec- tares. There is no special entrance channel to the port as the sea outside the breakwaters is deep enough for the larger ships expected.

Pilotage
Compulsory. Provided by the Turkish Maritime Organization.

Towage
Not necessary for the vessels up to 1500 GRT.
One tugboat compulsory for the vessels of more than 1 500 GRT.
Two tugboats compulsory for the vessels of more than 5000 GRT.
Provided by the port administration. 5 tugs available (up to 2500 HP)

Handling equipment
2 container gantry cranes of 40 tons capacity.
28 shore and yard cranes of 3 to 35 tons capacity.
2 special container mobile cranes of 40 tons capacity:
6 transtainers of 35 tons capacity.
22 mobile cranes of 3 to 25 tons capacity.
5 container forklifts of 10 to 42 tons capacity.
54 general cargo forklifts of 2 to 5 tons capacity.
20 tugmaster -trailer sets. 1 loader.

Container facilities
The space for container terminal is nearly 100000 sq.m. The holding capacity of the container terminal is 6 000 TEU (both full and empty) A container freight station of 3 600 sq.m. is available behind the container quay. Another facility available at the port is the provision of reefer facilities for refrigerated containers.

Bulk handling facilities
A grain silo of 34 000 mt capacity is available and has a conveyer connection with the quay.

Connected with state railways and highway network.
